Chugging along

On Thursday, I had a blood test to check whether the intravenous drug I had received Feb. 27 lowered my serum calcium, and it did. My doctor said my calcium level "lowered nicely" without getting into specifics, at my request.

I think my feverishness and its accompanying irritability weren't side effects of the drug, as I had thought shortly after receiving it, but just part of whatever bug has been going around lately. My headaches, which I now know are symptoms of greatly elevated calcium, have also declined in intensity and frequency. My joint pain -- especially in my knees -- has also lessened. I went to karate class twice this week after a layoff of about a week and a half. It worked wonders on my psyche.

The next step is a CT scan to determine exactly where in my chest the tumor is in relation to surrounding healthy tissue. Then, a decision can be made on whether surgery is a good idea.

Excellent News! Glad your feeling better in addition to the good test results.

Please wash your hands a lot - that norovirus going around was really powerful. I'd say it was the worst virus I've ever had. I'm still experiencing waves of pain in my abdomen and this is day 8. Please be careful about eating take out and washing your hands. You must have read (in your own newspaper!) about those kids at the NJ college who fell ill with this stupid virus! Otherwise - I wish you were in the East Village today. It was really a perfect eastvillage day with a lot of the old crowd out.

stay well. I send a karate chop in your direction! HI YA!

Thanks, EVI. Yes, there's a lot of stuff going around now. I'm glad you're feeling better.

By the way, I was in the East Village on Saturday. Lunch at Life Cafe, followed by lots of photos in Tompkins Square Park (I'll post them soon).

Glad to hear you've feeling a bit better. I know what you mean about the martial arts practice - I find it pretty good for the soul myself.

I'm glad your feeling good Michael. To hear that your Karate training did wonders on your Psyche is inspiring. I visited my Kung Fu teacher the other day. Looks like I'm starting back up during the summer, while I'm only taking one class. I hope whatever needs to be done is done and your health improves from it being done.

Thanks for your encouragement and good wishes, Lone Wolf! I'm glad you're getting back into kung fu. There's no denying the body/mind connection.
