Michael, what a great eerie shot. Looks like what it is, and yet....

I used to live across the street from this former penitentiary. Crawling with ghosts, so they say.

Hi Michael, my brother toured the prison and said it was fascinationg. It was built on a model of 24x7 solitary confinement for everyone with a lot of hard labor. At halloween they give guided tours at night with all kinds of creepy folks wandering in the cells and hallways. Jim F

Hiya Jim,

My most vivid memories of living across from the former prison are of summertime thunderstorms raging in from the north and west. The lightning crackling over the ramparts produced a spectacular effect.

The group dedicated to the preservation of the prison has been doing Halloween tours for a long, long time now. I believe they were started sometime during the 10 years I lived in Philadelphia, from 1985-95.

I never went on one (there's enough real-life stuff to be scared of), but I have toured the prison and that's eerie enough.
